Educational Opportunities for Student Guitarists of all Levels

Integral to The Middle Tennessee Guitar Alliance's mission is the establishment of a variety of educational opportunities for local guitarists, young and old, beginning and advanced.  To that end, the MTGA regularly arranges for all of the Virtuoso Series Guest Artists to conduct master classes while in Nashville. These public lessons provide a wide range of student guitarists the chance to gain invaluable advice from international concert artists, and allow auditors the opportunity to learn through observation.  The MTGA looks forward to presenting more outreach events and master classes in the 2018-19 season.

‪”After the outreach concert, our students were talking about guitar for the rest of the day. Thanks, MTGA!”

“I just wanted to thank the Middle Tennessee Guitar Alliance for giving guitarists from all walks of life access to world class guitarists, both through concerts and highly educational master classes.  I look forward to many years of an enriched classical guitar experience in Nashville.“

  • Greg Jones, adult aficionado

“Playing outreach concerts for the MTGA has been a deeply rewarding experience, and the master classes have provided incredible opportunities to interact with and learn from extraordinary artists.”

  • Amy May, area guitar student

Community Outreach

The MTGA began outreach activities in Spring 2016, bringing classical guitar into Metro Schools and Senior Living Communities in the Nashville area. The purpose of this outreach program is to enhance the cultural life of the community at large, especially for those with limited access to the arts. We seek to bring everyone into contact with great music and to help develop the musical skills of our community’s youth. This program also benefits aspiring guitarists by giving them the valuable performance opportunities that are essential to their artistic development.
